Artist Statement
I was born in Santa Barbara, California, living in Northern California now after working for the United States Air Force in Kaiserslautern Germany for 17 years. I was a Program Coordinator (Troop Entertainment). Our Marketing dept was slow, expensive and limited so I started doing my own marketing and it led me into something I thoroughly enjoyed. It became a passion. I received numerous awards and recognition for my talents, creative ideas and many were implemented to cross market our 30 + facilities spread amongst 4 bases.
Upon my return to California my experience with customs and international shipping led me into a Trade Analyst position. My creative passions were limited in this position other than beautifying my 3 ring customs notebooks, occasional slide shows or training packets. After 3 years I decided to follow my dreams and go back to school and get my Graphic Art degree.
This is when my Fine Art journey began......I needed to take a drawing class for the Graphic Art degree, I was a little worried thinking that I've never drawn anything more that a stick figure or some pictionary sketches. I found that I could draw and took another summer class. So I found I loved it and I had some talent and decided to follow my new found passion further by taking 18 units (6 classes) the next semester. That's all she wrote........I'm now continuing with my art and would have to say I'm a palette knife painter now and use oil as my primary medium but also work with acrylics.
